Makoto Ozone is a premier pianist from Japan with impressive technique and striking ability (especially on mid-tempo pieces) who often emphasizes introspective moods.On this, his third studio effort, he is heard in a variety of settings ranging from a duet with flutist Steve Kujala to a quintet with Kujala, guitarist John Abercrombie, bassist Marc Johnson and drummer Peter Erskine. The seven originals feature some excellent post-bop improvising by the group that is worth hearing.
