For his second album, TAINTED LUNCH, Safety Scissors moves to the much-vaunted German label ~scape, and the vocal elements of his first album come much more to the fore, as with the twitchy electronics and somewhat silly lyrics of "I Am The Cheese." "Sunlight's On The Other Side" is as silly, which adds a personable feel to the album, while "Amnesia, I Need You To Remind Me" brings back a hint of dub of his earlier work. The weirdo-electro of "A Fly In My Soup" will either charm or repel you, but it's certainly distinctive -- the same goes for Kevin Blechdom's guest vocals on the jaunty "After Disaster." "Love Lately" goes a touch more spare for its attempts at romance, while the French vocals on "L'Amour D'Cuisine" display a spry personality. An interesting album, to be sure.
